This year’s index comes at a time when reputation in the digital age has begun to be spotlit brighter and brighter. In the Spear’s briefing section, published alongside our rankings, we examined some of the key themes on the minds of practitioners and clients — and many had to do with the fast-evolving beast that is reputation management in the time of social media.
We published a story by Chris Stokel-Walker on how reputation management for HNWs should adjust in the digital age, highlighting the unique challenges that HNWs face online, even if they’re not active on social media. We also investigated the link between a lack of common purpose and reputational challenges that HNW families face, as well as how lobbying scandals could see politicians lose their tether to the real world.

Spear’s rankings are drawn up on the basis of peer nominations, telephone and face-to-face interviews, data supplied by firms, as well as information gathered by the Spear’s editorial and research teams.
