The global financial landscape has undergone a radical transformation and there will be no return to a pre-credit crunch situation, Barclays Wealth warned, in a new assessment of the investment outlook.

In one of the gloomiest public forecasts on the economic outlook by any major bank, it declared that policymakers “urgently need to get some traction in their policy initiatives, if disaster is to be avoided.”

Its warning is issued in the bank’s quarterly investment strategic report, which looks at the global credit crisis and danger that this will trigger economic meltdown across the world.
