The bonuses paid by banks in the City of London’s will be 60 percent lower this year.

The bonuses paid by banks in the City of London’s will be 60 percent lower this year, according to the Centre for Economics and Business Research thinktank.

In a statement, the CEB said it expects the total bonus payouts in the City to fall to £3.6 billion this year and £2.8 billion in 2009. In 2007, the total hit a record £8.5 billion.
