The Yorke Arms returns with more culinary grandeur

By Spear's

One of Yorkshire’s most iconic restaurants is set out to reopen in July, with Michelin-starred chef Frances Atkins at the helm

The Yorke Arms in Ramsgill, Harrogate is set to reopen in July 2018 after a short closure, with the newly formed partnership of Yorkshire businessman Jonathan Turner and Michelin starred Chef, Frances Atkins. The winning combination of Chef Frances Atkins’ talent and passion together with Jonathan Turner’s love of Yorkshire and flair for delivering the exceptional will bring the best the county has to offer to existing and new guests at The Yorke Arms in North Yorkshire.

The Yorke Arms  (www.theyorkearms.co.uk ) is currently undergoing refurbishment and the restaurant will re-open in July 2018 and the newly decorated bedrooms soon afterwards. This established Michelin starred restaurant will attract good food and wine lovers to Ramsgill. The Yorke Arms is known as a restaurant with rooms and is an 18th -century coaching house. The original site dates back to the 11th century when it was a monastic cheesery and is found at the end of the Gouthwaite Reservoir by the river Nidd. The setting is spectacular and is a worthy destination for those seeking the outstanding natural beauty of the Nidderdale Valley.

The Yorke Arms will offer a choice of two dining options: The Yorke Arms Restaurant by Frances Atkins and The Little Dining Room. The latter will be a relaxed dining experience, with The Restaurant showcasing Frances Atkins’ extraordinary and delicious dishes. The menus at The Yorke Arms will continue to feature local suppliers and Frances will use the produce she harvests from her kitchen garden, as she is a passionate promoter of British food.

‘Jonathan’s deep-rooted love of Yorkshire, his style and panache are very infectious and it really struck a chord with me. He has a genuine enthusiasm to create something even more special here and we hit it off straight away. I am thrilled to be part of his new team as we set out to deliver new, exciting plans for The Yorke Arms’ explains Chef Frances Atkins.

‘When I became aware that The Yorke Arms was up for sale, I knew I had to buy it! As a Yorkshireman, I could not bear the thought of someone from out of town buying it. I want it to remain a destination restaurant, with Frances at the helm and retain the Yorkshire heritage.’ Comments Jonathan Turner.

Jonathan and his wife share a love of refurbishing properties and at The Yorke Arms, they want to showcase some of the fantastic Yorkshire brands in the new look restaurant and rooms.  Tweed from Abraham Moon, the last remaining vertical woollen mill in Great Britain, and silk from James Hare which started from a cottage in Leeds in 1865, will be part of the new look and theme of The Yorke Arms.

All the bedrooms have an individual Yorkshire theme highlighting all that makes the area so popular with proud locals as well as visitors from around the world.
