RAMONA MEHTA

By Rasika Sittamparam

Mishcon’s straight-talking head of reputation protection is always vigilant on behalf of clients. One needs to stay ‘two steps’ ahead of the game, says Mehta. ‘You genuinely need to be around 24/7… If it’s a crisis, I’ve got to accept that crises don’t come between nine and five, five days a week.’

No stranger to ‘incredibly intense trials’ in her twenty years at the ‘full-service’ firm, the Mishcon partner, enjoys her high-octane role. Her philosophy, like her speech, is direct: ‘If we’re able to really protect and look after the things that matter, then I think we’re doing a huge service.’

She credits the ‘phenomenal’ team behind her, who had recently dealt with a highly sensitive case for a low-profile UHNW in an ‘outstanding’ manner: ‘We think very quickly, and we think with the client.’

Advising on a range of complex disputes, she has a spectrum of highly discreet international clients. As a result, most of her work goes undetected in the public sphere, but her excellence does not escape her peers. One says: ‘She’s very perspicacious, she has a very calm manner, but she can most certainly be tough.’
