Two michelin-starred chef Marcus Wareing lists his top five restaurants — watch out for a surprise entry at number five.

1. Medlar

Sadly the cat is out of the bag.  Jane and I have been here a few times and the accolades are now starting to roll in for the team at Medlar.  I am delighted for them, but of course it makes it much harder to book! I think it is a great local restaurant, perfect for meeting friends.

2. Café Colbert (Spear’s review)
I have already been there for breakfast a couple of times. I have yet to try dinner but the location is just great and the buzz is fabulous — great for shopping.

Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester comes in at number 3 in Marcus Wareing’s list of favourite restaurants

3. Alain Ducasse (Spear’s on Alain Ducasse)
For exquisite fine dining – I would probably save this for a special occasion as it can take a little longer, but it was great every time I have been.

4. The Delaunay
Another Jeremy King favorite of mine — the man can do no wrong. I enjoy the atmosphere here.  I would really only dine here if I was in the area, but on the other hand I would not wait for an occasion to go.  Great food, mid-price range and fun.

5. Pizza Express
This may be a surprise but I am a regular at our local Pizza Express with our children and I think it is a fantastic business.  I have tried other pizza restaurants but the service is lacking.  When I go here I know what I am getting, how long it will take, the kids love it and it gives me a day off from cooking!
