One of Citi’s star performers, Conor O’Beirne sits on the global giant’s Citigold team, where he manages private clients and a team of wealth managers.
He stresses the need for diversified investments now more than ever. ‘We’ve had a lot of surprises in the market – a lot of volatility and unexpected outcomes,’ says O’Beirne. The cross-currents might be erratic, but his team has been focusing on ideas for portfolio allocations to deal with them – particularly in alternative assets: ‘That’s where the value of diversification comes in, and that’s where the value of a wealth manager comes in.
We’re very much looking at the medium to long term.’
