City bankers are being urged to tailor their CVs to the one institution still hiring in the downturn: the UK Treasury.

Chancellor Alistair Darling is looking to hire an additional 70 people for the department, according to reports in the Financial Times, and is expecting a flood of CVs from former banks laid low by the credit crisis.

There are no prizes for guessing that the biggest expansion will be in the financial services department under Tom Scholar, whose numbers have already swelled from 60 to some 120 people through the redeployment of staff.
