By Spear's

On September 9th, 2015, Bank Leumi (UK) plc celebrated the Jewish New Year.

More than a thousand clients, potential clients and business partners were invited to mingle with representatives from Leumi Group and Leumi UK’s various teams, including private banking, Israel-related finance, commercial finance, commodities, property, hotel, media and hi-tech finance.

The event, taking place at the Montcalm Hotel was hosted by Bank Leumi UK CEO, Eli Katzav, and LeumiTech CEO, Yifat Oron. Professor Daniel Tsiddon, Leumi Group’s Deputy CEO and LeumiTech Chairman was also in attendance.

Bank Leumi (UK) CEO, Eli Katzav said: ‘It’s our biggest client event of the year and is always a special occasion.’

The event also marked the official launch of LeumiTech in London. LeumiTech, a fully owned subsidiary of Leumi Group with offices in Israel and the US, offers a suite of financial products and services tailored to the needs of Israeli start-up companies operating in the UK, or to those with an Israeli connection.

Guest speaker Tal Brener, CFO of Gett (previously known as ‘GetTaxi’), talked about his experience with tech start-ups and his relationship with LeumiTech. Gett is a company that enables customers to order taxis via smartphone (iPhone and Android apps).

LeumiTech CEO, Yifat Oron said: ‘I am pleased to be joining clients and colleagues to celebrate the Jewish New Year and to launch our UK operations in London, the largest high-tech centre in Europe and one of the largest in the world.’

‘Israel is one the world’s leading high-tech centres, second only to Silicon Valley. There are many Israeli high-tech companies operating in London. We are planning to support those companies, from the growth stage onwards, and provide them with personalized service in both English and Hebrew. I believe that we are perfectly positioned to offer our clients a one-stop-shop for their daily financial operations, including money transfers to Israel, currency conversions, hedging, cash management products and liquidity management,’ said Oron.
