The London gentry were out in full force on Tuesday night to welcome the arrival of new Mayfair bar Mr Fogg’s. Bunga Bunga, Barts and Maggie’s owners Charlie Gilkes and Duncan Stirling launched the bar in honour of the eccentric British adventurer in Jules Verne’s ‘Around The World in 80 Days’.
This discreet Mayfair house imagines the Victorian abode of Mr Phileas J Fogg, housing all the weird and wonderful artefacts of the period that he collected from his around the world trip.
Guests sipped Moet & Chandon Champagne and Victorian-inspired Tanqueray Gin based-cocktails while nibbling on the toasted sandwiches regularly ordered by Phileas Fogg at the Reform Club. Guests included Pippa Middleton with beau Nico Jackson and James Middleton and Donna Air, Princess Eugenie, Lee Mead, Henry Conway, Astrid and Davina Harbord, Wilfred and George Frost, Jack Freud and Phileas J Fogg himself even popped back from the wilds of Scotland to entertain his guests.
