A peer says of Ross Elder: ‘Ross is a recognised leader within the wealth community, having successfully launched Lincoln Private Investment Office and built up a loyal following due to its excellent reputation.’
The team at Lincoln invest their own money alongside their clients’. The firm’s owners are employees and clients only. Elder explains: ‘This means people are here for the long term. It also means our clients who are shareholders care about service and performance and not about arbitrary targets.’
The firm looks after 80 families, and Spear’s can see why they have been attracted: Elder has a calm and considered disposition, together with a relish for moving the industry forward. ‘Our business is predominantly coming from the private banks because we look after UK-based entrepreneurs and financial professionals,’ he says, ‘the people who are least happy to relinquish control but are certainly the type who trust
their own judgement.’
Elder also argues that fees have been too high for private clients in recent years: ‘I’ve watched clients go from thinking it impolite to ask about fees to really understanding the impact of fees.’
