Analysing the first six months of 2012, it shows the countries that HNWs are most likely to be kidnapped in:

Quite obviously, the table illustrates a changing world. Latin America is no longer the global bad boy it once was, perhaps because of factors like Colombia's FARC winding down and greater awareness in coca-hotspots. Now Asia, Africa and the Middle East pose greater threats as they get wealthier (if not necessarily more lawless).
This is pertinent stuff for HNWs visiting their overseas business empire.
