On your marks, get set, go: a music docking station with a difference

Motor racing fans with a penchant for home furnishings have truly been spoilt of late. From mirrors, clocks and lamps made from supercar parts to coffee tables comprising of F1 tyres and office ‘racing’ chairs, there appears to be no limit to the repurposing of Grand Prix memorabilia for commercial gain.

The latest – and rather impressive – example in a long line is the iXOOST: an iPhone and iPad docking station as sleek and shiny as the lustrous supercars that have inspired it.

Handcrafted in Modena, the birthplace of Enzo Ferrari, it uses the genuine exhaust from an 8, 10 or 12 cylinder supercar, which pumps out crystal clear sound.

The roar of racecar engines is replaced with your own digital library, with the customer able to choose the colour, metallic finish, leather and even the Allen screws for this rather macho custom piece.

Entirely built by Modenese craftsmen, the ‘iXOOST’ – named after an Italian pronunciation of the word ‘exhaust’ – boasts exceptional audio via specially designed loudspeakers and an active 140-watt subwoofer based within the pipes.

From €5,500 upwards. For more information, go to: www.iXOOST.it
