Best undergraduate business schools

By Spear's

Author: Zahra Al-Kateb

For the fifth year in a row, the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business has been ranked number one on Bloomberg Businessweek’s ninth annual ranking. Founded in 1921 by Holy Cross priest John Francis O’Hara, the college offers an academically rigorous business education with a focus on ethics, value based decision-making and a concern for the common good. Traditionally, coursework at Mendoza College is well rounded and focuses on various subjects, from liberal arts to science to theology. However, as expected, Mendoza is considered a very selective business school, with admission rates for the previous year at just 34 per cent.

Other high calibre business schools include the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, also ranked second by Bloomberg Businessweek for a fifth consecutive year. McIntire offers undergraduate students degrees in Commerce with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Management and Marketing. Founded in 1921, McIntire’s job placement is among the best in America, with the starting salary for undergraduate students standing at $61,022 in 2012.

Our definitive guide to the best undergraduate business schools also features two business schools within the UK, including Said Business School at the University of Oxford. Established in 1996, Said Business School is still relatively new on the scene. Despite this, it is often ranked highly on annual lists, with admissions being highly competitive.
