London, UK – Impetus Trust, the UK pioneer of venture philanthropy, has appointed Joanna Walker – whose experience embraces both international banking and fundraising for UK and overseas development organisations – to the new role of Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships.

“We have ambitious plans for our portfolio of charities and social enterprises over the next few years,” explains Daniela Barone Soares, Chief Executive, Impetus Trust. “We are planning to expand it substantially, in line with our objective of helping many more poor people in the UK to gain the education, skills and jobs they need to escape economic disadvantage. In Joanna, whose credentials in both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors made her an ideal candidate for Impetus, we have a senior business development professional who has the skills and commitment to ensure significant and sustained growth in our income.”

Walker joins Impetus after four years with UBS Wealth Management in both London and Dubai. She had previously spent five years with overseas development organisation The Brooke, as Head of Major Gifts & International Fundraising. She holds a degree in Geography from the University of Manchester and professional qualifications in both finance and fundraising.

Commenting on her appointment, Joanna Walker said, “The unique combination of core funding, skills and experience that Impetus provides to its portfolio of charities and social enterprises is what first attracted me. Impetus is a hugely dynamic and ambitious organisation. I’m excited by the opportunity to build an equally ambitious philanthropy & partnerships programme, so more charities can receive our support, and more individuals and organisations can get involved in the Impetus model of strategic and impactful giving.”
