One interesting tidbit from the Knight Frank Wealth Report 2013 is that searches from Venezuela on Knight Frank’s website for luxury property rose by over 120 per cent in 2011-12, a particularly interesting statistic since the death of Hugo Chavez.

But what now Hugo Chavez is dead? You could see a fall because the object of fear has gone, and with him the flimsy populist ideology of Chavismo which threatened to (and in fact did) strip the wealthy of their property and assets. Equally, however, Venezuelan HNWs may fear a period of instability, and no-one knows what a new government will look like, or even if it will be peaceably put together.
