Hugh Jackman’s net worth is reported to be £104 million.

Born of English parentage to Grace McNeil and Christopher John Jackman, Hugh Jackman acted from a young age, starring in the school production of My Fair Lady.

However it wasn’t until Jackman was completing his BA in Communications at the University of Technology, Sydney in 1991, when he decided to pursue acting as a career.

After obtaining his degree Jackman completed a one year course titled ‘The Journey’ at The Actors’ Centre in Sydney. He turned down a role on the popular Australian soap opera Neighbours to attend the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, graduating in 1994.

On the night of his final Academy graduation performance, Jackman received a phone call offering him a role in Corelli.

In 1996 Jackman went on to Melbourne to perform on stage, playing Gaston in the local Walt Disney production Beauty and the Beast and Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard.

His early film work includes Erskineville Kings and Paperback Hero (1999). His television work includes Law of the Land, Hallifax f.p., Blue Hellers and Banjo Paterson’s The Man from Snowy River.

1998 saw Jackman play the leading role of Curly in Oklahoma! in London’s West End. The performance earned him an Olivier Award nomination. It was this that led to his fame outside of Australia.

Jackman was then cast as Wolverine in X-Men (2000). The successful film made $296 million at the box office. He reprised his role in X2: X-Men United (2002, $407 million), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006, $459 million) and the prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009, $373 million) and X-Men: First Class (2011, $353 million). He returned for his role of Wolverine again in The Wolverine (2013, $415 million) and in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014, $746 million).

Jackman has done extensive stage work and sang for the role of Billy Bigelow in the musical Carousel (2002). He won the Tony Award and the Drama Desk Award for his Broadway portrayal of Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz. Jackman also hosted the Tony Awards in 2003, 2004 and 2005 earning him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Performer in a Variety Musical or Comedy Programme.

In 2001 Jackman starred as Leopold in the romantic comedy Kate & Leopold. He also starred in the action/drama film Swordfish later that year.

Jackman played the lead role in Van Helsing (2004, $300 million) and starred in the 2006 film The Prestige.

In that same year Jackman voiced the part of Memphis in Happy Feet ($384 million) and Roddy in Flushed Away ($178 million).

He starred alongside Nicole Kidman in Australia (2008, $211 million).

2012 saw Jackman portray Jean Valjean in the film Les Misérables ($441 million), an adaptation of the musical. He won the Golden Globe for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his performance.

He is global advisor for the Global Poverty Project for which he narrated a documentary. He and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness are patrons of the Bone Marrow Institute of Australia.
