As Juvenal never said, who will lead the leaders? In this case, the leading hotels of the world – or rather, The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.

As Juvenal never said, who will lead the leaders? In this case, the leading hotels of the world – or rather, The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.

Recently we met the leader: Ted Teng, who will be taking forward hotels such as The Ritz, London, Le Bristol, Paris and The Mark, New York. At a sumptuous reception in the aforementioned Ritz, Ted told Hedgehog that he was confident the hotels in his group – which define luxury, or luxury is impossible – will survive because what they offer above others is service.

We also learnt that just in case you thought getting in was a case of your membership cheque clearing, you are sorely mistaken: the Leading Hotels have ‘announced a complete overhaul’ of its ‘meticulous standards’. Now personalised service takes a greater role in evaluation.

Founded in 1928 as The Luxury Hotels of Europe and Egypt, the group now encompasses 450 hotels, stretching from the Nairobi Serena to the Grand Hotel Beijing.
