Fiona Shackleton given peerage

By Spear's

We’re sure she already has a fabulous taste in fur, but the ermine of a hereditary peer is the latest item to end up in Fiona Shackleton’s wardrobe

We’re sure she already has a fabulous taste in fur, but the ermine of a life peer is the latest item to end up in Fiona Shackleton’s wardrobe.

The fearsome lawyer, who has participated in some of the highest-profile (and wettest) divorce cases of the recent past, will be poacher-turned-gamekeeper as she becomes able to make the law, instead of just fighting with it.

Her cases, first at Farrer & Co, then at Payne Hicks Beach, include: for Paul McCartney against Heather Mills; for Prince Andrew against Fergie; and for Prince Charles against Diana; and for Granatino against Radmacher. The last of these she lost, thereby establishing the importance of pre-nups.

Lady Shackleton (it has a ring to it) picked up Payne Hicks Beach’s award for Family Law Firm of the Year at the Spear’s Wealth Management Awards 2009.
