‘There seem to be plenty of opportunities in our Mayfair marketplace,’ says Methven of his Grosvenor Street ‘intelligent advisory service’, adding that his firm has seen a 20 per cent increase in revenue over the year.
The big project he undertook in 2016 was for two Leave campaigns at the time of Britain’s EU membership referendum: ‘We were asked by donors to address the economic issue, which they felt was being ignored. We formed and ran Economists for Brexit — eight of the UK’s top economists, who believed in the economic case for leaving — and, over the course of two months, reduced the Remain campaign’s lead on “the economy and jobs” from 22 per cent to 6 per cent. That involved over 8,000 appearances in the UK media, so it was an extraordinarily intense but rewarding eight weeks.’
His clients clearly think so, considering the growth he has achieved. One told us: ‘Dragon has totally transformed the way I think about and address my wealthy client base. Not only has the firm introduced me directly to new clients, but for the first time in my years of dealing with PRs, they actually put in place a media campaign that got the phone ringing from the right people. They weren’t cheap, but were great value for us.’
