Charlize Theron net worth

By Spear's

Charlize Theron’s net worth is reported to be £76 million.

Born in 1975 in South Africa, Charlize Theron’s entry into the film industry was rather unusual. The actress, then a little-known model trying to break into movies, made a scene in a Los Angeles bank when a member of staff refused to cash a cheque. It attracted the attention of a Hollywood casting manager who signed her up for a small part in Children of the Corn III (1995).

Theron, who completed her arts education in Johannesburg, always had an interest in films. She began ballet lessons aged six and by the time she was sixteen, she had entered and won a Johannesburg modeling contest. Theron soon traveled to Italy, where she won the International New Model Today competition, and began her modeling career.

Her first project led to bigger roles in 2 Days in the Valley (1996) and That Thing You Do! (1996). She landed a major role as Keanu Reeves’ suicidal wife in The Devil’s Advocate (1997), which grossed $152 million worldwide and made Theron an international star. Mighty Joe Young (1998) further bolstered her image.

Theron’s next film, The Cider House Rules (1999), landed her on the cover page of Vanity Fair Magazine as ‘White Hot Venus.’ The same year, she was featured in Playboy magazine. In 2000, Theron appeared in four movies – Reindeer Games, The Yards, The Legend of Bagger Vance and Men of Honor, which cemented her profile in the industry.

Theron’s breakthrough role in Monster (2003) fetched her an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role, as well as a Golden Globe.

She then appeared in North Country (2005) where her portrayal of a coal miner fighting sexual harassment in the workplace earned her nominations at the Golden Globes and the Oscars. The same year, she starred in the big-screen adaptation of the MTV cult cartoon Aeon Flux, and made multiple guest appearances on the award-winning television comedy, Arrested Development.

Theron reportedly received $10 million for each of her roles in North Country and Aeon Flux. She received a Golden Globe nomination for Young Adult, which was released in 2011. The following year she appeared in Snow White and the Hunstman, and Prometheus. Theron will appear in A Million Ways to Die in the West, which is due to be released later this year.

In addition to films, Theron has made several appearances in television shows between 2005 and 2012. She has also produced films such as Monster, East of Havana, Sleepwalking, The Burning Plain and Dark Places.

Theron, 38, previously had a seven-year-long relationship with actor Stuart Townsend. She has since been linked to Sean Penn. Theron adopted a son in 2012.
