Radio presenters' Kate pregnancy stunt is…

When will it end? First, Closer magazine publishes photos of the Duchess of Cambridge topless, and now two Australian radio DJs impersonate The Queen to obtain information about the royal pregnancy.

Some may find the stunt amusing – the 2day FM presenters asked Edward VII nurses about Kate’s condition and then barked like corgis – but frankly it’s yet another gross violation of privacy.

A strong precedent was set in September when St James’s Palace launched legal proceedings against Silvio Berlusconi’s magazine Closer over the photos and that now needs to be reinforced.

In a post-Leveson world, the message that commerce without conscience is wrong has clearly not penetrated every corner of the earth.

HNWs worldwide will be hoping that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge join forces with Edward VII to take strong action. If those HNWs who can’t avoid the public glare – like the Royals – don’t stand up for their rights then those HNWs who keep a lower profile will suffer indirectly.
