Invitation only
‘Europe and the UK is being redefined by its entrepreneurs,’ says Ariadne Capital, the brainchild of Julie Meyer, no mean entrepreneur herself.
Proving this, the second ‘Follow the Entrepreneur’ investor conference, to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Hampshire, on 25 May will welcome 200 leading entrepreneurs to hear speeches by those who share a ‘vision of the future of their ecosystem or domain’. These speakers include former leader of the Liberal Democrats Paddy Ashdown, CEO of leading post-trade network Traiana, Gil Mandelzis, and Dr Philippa Malmgren, president and founder of Principalis Asset Management.
With RBC Wealth Management as its headline sponsor for 2012, the conference aims to give the entrepreneurs ‘an insight into what the future looks like, where to invest your capital, and how a firm can have the biggest impact in the world of tomorrow’.
The expression of her belief in the power of capital is forceful: ‘Money is like a heat seeking missile looking for the ideas which will shape the era.’ Launching Entrepreneur Country, an international network of investors, entrepreneurs, corporate organisations and media partners, in 2008, Meyer aims to convince the world that economic success is driven by an entrepreneurial and innovative approach to business. With the emphasis on ‘new company momentum’, she says that a ‘silent majority of people in the UK want to “live in entrepreneur country”.’
Her upcoming book Welcome to Entrepreneur Country: What it is, how to find it, why you should visit, which will be published in June, promises to show ‘just what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur in the twenty-first century’. Based on her experiences it should be a fascinating read and a must have for any budding entrepreneurs.
