Appeals have been launched this morning for the return of Alex Partridge and Hannah MacLeod’s Olympic medals, lost (or perhaps stolen) on Tuesday night after a party at Buckingham Palace.
The Met have been called in to investigate, and the perpetrators will be running the moral gauntlet right now as to whether or not to give back the irreplaceable items.

Partridge has appealed to the BBC saying, ‘It’s not about the medal, it’s about the journey… It was only when I picked up my 16-month-old daughter from nursery it really dawned on me. If it doesn’t come back she won’t see everything I worked for which was a representation of being in the best British Olympic team and possibly the best Olympics ever.’
And just to reinforce his point, Spear’s would like to point out to the thieves that the monetary value of their loot is just £3, as bronze medals are made up of 97% copper, 2.5% zinc and 0.5% tin.
4,700 London 2012 medals are in circulation, and it’s obvious that the emotional value that they hold for their owners far outweighs the monetary value they hold on the open market.
So do the honourable thing, thieves, and give them back…
