Louis Smith Net Worth

By Suren Prasad

Olympic Silver medallist and contestant on The Jump, British gymnast Louis ‘Silver’ Smith’s net worth is estimated to be over £850,000.

Louis Antoine Smith was born on April 22, 1989 to Jamaican-born father, Claude, and English mother, Elaine in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England. Raised by his mum since he was three, Smith was diagnosed with the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) at the age of six, and had to be treated with Ritalin for five years.
How did Smith make thousands?

Choosing gymnastics over singing, he was enrolled into the Huntingdon Gymnastics club by his mother, which became the main factor to help him overcome ADHD.

Smith’s fondness for the Pommel Horse, a skill learnt with the help of a bucket hung by a rope from the ceiling, helped him strike Gold in two junior European Championships (2004 and 2006). Competing in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games (2006), he again won Gold in the Pommel Horse.

In 2007, Smith won Bronze for Great Britain, in the Pommel Horse, at his first World Championships (the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart), subsequently securing Silver at the World Cup in Ghent in the same event. In the 2008 World Cup at Moscow, Smith again secured a Pommel Horse Silver.
Smith then became the first medal-winning British male in the individual gymnastics since Walter Tysall’s Silver in 1908, with his Bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. It also made him the first Brit to win an Olympic gymnastics medal since the women’s team Bronze in 1928.

He soon won Pommel Horse Silver at the 2009 European Championships duplicating the feat in the 2010 edition too, while helping Britain snatch Silver in the team event of the latter. Smith won Silver again at the 2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, in Rotterdam.

Competing in the 2011 Tokyo World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Smith won the only medal, a Bronze, for the British gymnastics team.
A part of the Gold medal winning British squad at the 2012 European Championships, Smith also won Pommel Horse Silver in Artistic Gymnastics.

Come 2012, at the London Olympics, Smith won the men’s Artistic team all-round Bronze (the first team medal won by the British Olympic gymnastics team after a century). He then went on to snatch Silver in the Pommel Horse, missing Britain’s first ever Olympic Gymnastics Gold.

Awarded the MBE at the 2013 New Year Honours, Smith temporarily retired in 2013 only to bounce back in 2014 to win Bronze in the Pommel Horse at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Smith’s first individual European Gold came at the 2015 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Montpellier, France.
In Rio 2016, Smith clinched his second Olympic Silver for Great Britain in the Pommel Horse.

Partnering Aliona Vilani on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing (2012), Smith’s perfect 40 in the final saw him as winner. He also won the 2014 Christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing with Vilani. Smith’s earning was estimated at £850,000 after the show.

Smith was a contestant on Channel 4’s reality show The Jump (begun February 5, 2017).
