Copeland in 1964, Lisa Troutt graduated from the University of North Texas with a minor in Business and major in Fashion Design and soon went on to Marketing, Sales and Design jobs in the garment business, where she worked for companies such as Leslie Fay, Prophecy Corp, Barboglio and BIS by Gene Ewing.

Marrying Kenny Troutt, the founder of telecom company Excel Communications, in 1993, Lisa Troutt came to be one of the richest housewives in Dallas and a well-known socialite in elite circles.

Troutt’s husband owns a horse ranch in Versailles, Kentucky, called Winstar Farm—which has 300-500 horses, including Kentucky Derby-winning horses, Troutt races and is actively affiliated with the Race Track Chaplaincy of America.
