One of the most memorable moments of Jane Sydenham’s career was, without a doubt, ‘surviving the financial crisis’.
‘It was the most tremendous learning experience,’ she says. ‘It’s recalibrated my sense of what matters and where the rules lie.’ Today her clients range from entrepreneurs to those in the creative industries to people who have inherited money.
‘If we are doing our job properly we should be looking after two or three or four generations of one family for over 20 or 30 years,’ she adds. ‘It’s about sitting alongside your client and going through life with them and being honest and saying sometimes, “This isn’t the right thing to invest in.”’
