July 29 (Bloomberg) — International dealers are signing up for a new show in London’s Berkeley Square which aims to attract passing trade from billionaire contemporary-art collectors.
Van de Weghe of New York and Galerie Vedovi of Brussels, both specialists in classic contemporary works, are among the latest recruits for the Pavilion of Art & Design in October. It is timed to coincide with the Frieze Art Fair and defy a slump in art prices.
“Location, location, location,” Ben Brown, whose jewelry- dealer wife Louisa Guinness will also be exhibiting at the new show, said in a telephone interview. “Most of the key clients who visit Frieze stay in hotels around the corner from Berkeley Square. It’s a no-brainer,” said Brown, a London-based dealer in contemporary art.
