Afghan Leaks

By Spear's

A huge quantity of apparently unprocessed battlefield intelligence reports have been leaked to wikileaks.com

A huge quantity of apparently unprocessed battlefield intelligence reports have been leaked to wikileaks.com, and have been publicized by three newspapers, including the Guardian. Although the journalists have been quick to release the classified material, their failure to provide context and analysis has left them with a rather tepid potato.

In the fog of war there are always contradictory after-combat reports, and in the heat of conflict there are bound to be civilian casualties.

These many thousands of reports do not reveal any smoking gun, and apart from references to a covert Task Force, about which much has been disclosed already, there seems very little in the stories apart from hyperbole. Is it really news that many people believe the Pakistani ISI has had links with the Afghan Taliban?

One issue arising is precisely how this material came to be leaked, and doubtless the Pentagon molehunters are in hot pursuit.
