Who is Cristiano Ronaldo?
Portugal’s football captain and all-time top-scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro currently plays for Juventus.

Childhood
Born to the late José Dinis Aveiro (gardener and part-time kit man of football team Andorinha) and cook Maria Dolores dos Santos on February 5, 1985, in São Pedro, Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo played for Andorinha and Nacional between 1992 and 1997. He was soon recruited by Sporting CP’s youth team for £1,500 and, at 14, stopped studies to concentrate on football.

Career
In 2001, his football skills propelled him to progress from the under-16 to the first team in the same season. Ronaldo made his Primeira Liga debut for Sporting CP in 2002, winning the Supertaca Candido de Oliveira with them.

Manchester United
Signed by Manchester United’s manager Alex Ferguson for a £12.24 million to play the 2003-04 season, Ronaldo was given David Beckham’s number 7 jersey.
At Manchester United Ronaldo won the FA Cup in 2003-04, the Premier League in 2006-07 – winning the Golden Boot award in the same season, the UEFA Champions League in 2007-08 – winning the top-scorer and UEFA Club Footballer of the Year in the same season and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2008 when he also won FIFA World Player of the Year.

Real Madrid
Ronaldo left for Real Madrid on a world record transfer fee of €94 million for season 2009-10.

His impressive achievements at Real include two Copas del Rey in 2010-11 and 2013-14, two La Liga titles in 2011-12 and 2016-17, two Supercopas de España in 2012 and 2017, four UEFA Champions League trophies between 2013 and 2018, three FIFA Club World Cups in 2014, 2016 and 2017 (he was the highest goal-scorer and Golden Ball winner in 2016), scoring the fastest 200 goals in 178 La Liga games, as well as being crowned UEFA Best Player in Europe in 2014, 2016 and 2017.

A new three-year deal before season 2013-14 secured Ronaldo a net salary of €17 million, making him the highest-paid footballer until Gareth Bale arrived.

Juventus
In July 2018, the Real star signed-up with Italian club Juventus for €100 million. Juventus won the Supercoppa Italiana in January 2019.

International
Joining Portugal’s senior side at 18, his national achievements include fourth place at the 2006 World Cup and a Euro Cup win as captain of Portugal in Euro 2016.
Ronaldo’s opening match hat-trick against Spain in the 2018 FIFA World Cup made him the oldest player to achieve the feat. His goal in the next match made him Europe’s all-time top scorer, beating Hungarian legend Ferenc Puskás’ total of 84.

Awards
Ronaldo is the current top goal-scorer in the UEFA Champions League (121 goals), He has won five Ballon d’Ors (shared with Messi), four European Golden Shoes, a FIFA Puskás Award, five World Soccer Player of the Year awards, and a place in 2018’s FIFA World Cup Dream Team.

Cristiano’s income ranged from $88 million in 2016 and $93 million in 2017, his CR7 brand has topped Forbes’ list of highest-earning athletes. ESPN voted him World’s Most Famous Athlete in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Managing two CR7 fashion boutiques in Madeira and Lisbon, Ronaldo’s innumerable endorsements encompass Nike’s Mercurial Vapor cleats, Castrol, Herbalife, Armani, Tag Heuer, Eden Parfums’ Legacy, Pro Evolution Soccer and EA Sports. In 2016, Nike and Ronaldo signed a $1 billion ‘lifetime’ deal.

Personal life
Ronaldo lives with his children Cristiano Jr., Eva, Mateo and Alana Martina, and Spanish model/girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez, in his new Turin villa in the hills behind the Gran Madre de Dio church.
