Daniel Radcliffe is worth a reported £76 million.

Only child of Alan George Radcliffe and Marcia Jeannine Gresham, both actors during their childhood, Radcliffe was born in Fulham on July 23, 1989.

Radcliffe’s love for acting came to the fore when he was five. His childlike passion convinced his mum to allow him to play David Copperfield in the BBC TV adaptation, a role which impressed director Chris Columbus to cast him as Harry Potter for his next grand franchise. J.K. Rowling remarked that Columbus “couldn’t have found a better Harry”.

Earlier Jamie Lee Curtis who played Radcliffe’s mum in The Tailor of Panama (2001) had predicted that he would be perfect for Harry Potter.

For Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001), little Radcliffe was paid $1,000,000 (imdb.com), with the movie grossing $974 million.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Salary: $3,000,000) became second highest-grossing film of 2002.

Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) earned only $795 million; the lowest grosser of the series.

For Order of the Phoenix (2007), he earned $14,000,000, bagging Best Male Performance at the National Movie Awards (2008).

Radcliffe debuted on Broadway as the hero in the controversial Equus (2007).

He was also nominated for the Drama League Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for his role in the revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (2011).

He also starred in the movies December Boys (2007, salary: $1,170,000), My Boy Jack (ITV film), The Woman in Black (2012), Kill Your Darlings (2013), Horns (2013), The F Word (2013) and What If (2013).

By 2009, Radcliffe’s annual income had reached $49.19 million making him the richest teenager in England.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 1 (2010) earned him $20,000,000, collecting over $950 million. It had the highest earning three-day opening in British history, and collected $205 million in 91 markets outside the U.S. He became the sixth richest male Hollywood star.

The final installment, Deathly Hallows-Part 2 (2011), (salary: $33,000,000) broke records such as biggest first-day opening, biggest midnight release and biggest opening-weekend. Collecting over $1.3 billion, this is the 4th highest-grosser in the history of Hollywood. Rowling termed Radcliffe as ‘top wand’ among the “Big Seven” of the series’ stars in her speech at the 2011 London première of the movie.

Gilmore Jacobs, a company established by his parents in 2000 to handle Radcliffe’s financial assets, revealed the actor’s fixed investments to be worth over £18 million, in 2010.

Radcliffe owns three houses in the U.S — an 1847 West Village Manhattan residence, a fifth floor New York apartment worth $4.3 million and a $4.9 million 11th floor condo in SoHo. He also has a flat in London.
