British actress Natalie Dormer, who plays the role of Margaery Tyrell on the award-winning TV series Game of Thrones, has a net worth estimated to be over £2 million.
With part Norwegian lineage, Natalie Dormer was born on February 11, 1982 in Reading, Berkshire. While at school, Dormer took classes at the Allenova School of Dancing and later graduated from London’s Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Subsequently, she made her film debut with the Lasse Hallström directed Casanova (2005), where her role was lengthened by Hallström whom she impressed with her comedic skills. She appeared in Distant Shores the same year, but the following nine months she had to support herself by working as a waitress and a data entry operator as she was not able to land any acting roles.
How did Dormer get her big break?
In 2007, Dormer was given the role of Anne Boleyn in the TV series The Tudors. She received two Gemini Award nominations for Best Performance by an Actress, in 2008 and 2009.
After appearances in “Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?” episode of the TV series Agatha Christie’s Marple (2008) and films such as City of Life (2009), Dormer debuted on stage in London’s Young Vic theatre with Sweet Nothings (2010)—playing the role of Mizi for six months, performed in the play .45 (2010), and later the TV shows Silk (2011) and The Fades (2011).
Dormer found worldwide recognition with HBO’s award-winning fantasy series Game of Thrones in 2012, where her performance as Margaery Tyrell helped in the cast being nominated for two SAG Awards in the Outstanding Performance by an ensemble category. She also lent voice to the eponymous video game in 2014.
She then pieced together another “sensational” performance for theatre to critical acclaim with After Miss Julie in March 2012.
In 2013, Dormer performed in Neverwhere (a radio play), appeared in the films Rush, The Counselor and A Long Way From Home, and acted as Irene Adler in CBS’ Elementary (2013-2015). She acted in the successful movie franchise The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014) and Part 2 (2015) as Cressida, played the title role of 18th Century noblewoman Lady Worseley in BBC’s The Scandalous Lady W (August 2015), starred in the horror movie The Forest (2016) and is set to star in September this year (with Matt Smith) in the thriller Patient Zero and also the revenge thriller In Darkness.
