“Britain’s most controversial columnist” and TV personality Katie Hopkins has a reported net worth of over £2.75 million.

Born in Devon on February 13, 1975, Katie Hopkins and went on to the University of Exeter to graduate in Economics with a sponsorship from the Intelligence Corps. After graduating, Hopkins soon followed a military training course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, followed by a job as a Business Consultant in Manhattan.

Coming back to Britain in 2005, Hopkins took up a job as a Global Brand Consultant at the Met Office the following year and became a successful Brand Consultant drawing £90,000 a year by 2007.

In 2007, she participated in the third series of the Lord Alan Sugar-led reality show The Apprentice on BBC, but rejected a spot in the finals prompting 6.2 million viewers to be glued to their screens for the episode. The episode of You’re Fired!, showing Hopkins’ interview, garnered 3.1 million viewers.

Hopkins subsequently sold her story to the erstwhile national red top tabloid News of the World and East Midland Allied Press (EMAP). She then presented a programme called Five Live Report for BBC Radio 5 Live while also writing for BBC Online.

Her appearances on other programmes include 8 Out of 10 Cats (2007), I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! (2007), The Friday Night Project (2007), Question Time (2010 and 2011), This Morning (2013) and 10 O’Clock Live (2013), Loose Women (2015) and Reality Bites (2015).

By November 2013 Hopkins began penning a column for The Sun, which went on to promote her as “Britain’s most controversial columnist”. Leaving The Sun in 2015, she joined Daily Mail’s Mail Online.

January 2015 saw Hopkins participate and finish runner-up in the reality show Celebrity Big Brother. The same year, to prove that obese people could also successfully reduce weight, she intentionally gained and effectively lost about 19 kg over a period of many months. Her effort was documented and aired on TLC channel as My Fat Story, which garnered a combined viewership of 10 million in the UK and the US, as declared by TLC. TLC then went on to broadcast a chat show called If Katie Hopkins Ruled the World (August to September).
