Gary Cahill net worth

By Suren Prasad

England and Chelsea centre-back, British footballer Gary James Cahill’s net worth is reported to be $22 million.

Born on December 19, 1985 in Dronfield, Derbyshire, Gary Cahill played with Sunday league team AFC Dronfield until 2000 after which he joined Aston Villa’s Academy.

Which deal led Cahill to his millions?

Debuting professionally against Tottenham Hotspur in a League Cup match, while on loan to Burnley in November 2004, Cahill was dubbed Burnley’s Player of the Year as well as Young Player of the Year.

Cahill’s Aston Villa debut came in a League Cup match in September 2005 and his first Premier League fixture in April 2006.

Appearing in the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship, that September Cahill was loaned to Sheffield United followed by a signing with Bolton in January 2008 for about £5 million. August 2009 saw Bolton ink a new three-year deal with him. While there, Cahill played 130 league games and also progressed to vice-captain.

He became the first Bolton footballer to represent England after Michael Ricketts (2002), when he made his senior England debut in September 2010. Cahill’s his first international goal came in the Euro 2012 qualifiers, making him the first Bolton player to score for England since 1959’s Ray Parry strike against Northern Ireland.

Come January 2012, Chelsea grabbed Cahill from Bolton for an estimated £7 million. Despite a hamstring injury from the second leg of the Champions League semi-final versus Barcelona, Cahill played the final against Bayern Munich, where Chelsea outgunned Bayern in the penalties, winning their first UEFA Champions League trophy. Just before that, Chelsea had won the FA Cup trophy.

Cahill’s first Champions League goal came in December 2012, when Chelsea defeated Nordsjælland. Same month he also played in the Club World Cup final against Corinthians. In May 2013, with Cahill playing the whole match, Chelsea won the 2013 UEFA Europa League beating Benfica.

In 2013-14, Chelsea lost in the penalty shootout to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Supercup final. Cahill made his 100th Chelsea appearance in the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League round of 16. In April 2014, Cahill was named in the PFA Team of the Year and in July was handed a new contract by Chelsea until 2008 for about £120,000-a-week.

He played for England in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, starting in all first round matches.
Cahill holds the distinction of becoming the quickest winner of every available major trophy in the history of the Premier League within just three years—the FA Cup (2012), UEFA Champions League (2012), UEFA Europa League (2013), Football League Cup (2015) and Premier League (2015). He was also selected for the PFA Team of the Year (2015).
Inking a new deal in December 2015 to remain at Chelsea until 2019, Cahill captained England for the first time against Estonia in the Euro 2016 qualifiers—England had already qualified.
