Fashion model and reality TV star who’s currently a part of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Cynthia Bailey is reported to have a net worth of £400,000.
Born in Tuscumbia, Alabama on February 19, 1967, Bailey shifted to New York when she was 18 years old in search of a career in modelling. Bolstered by a Homecoming Queen crown at high school in addition to other local beauty pageants, Bailey was signed up for a five-year contract by New York agency Wilhelmina Models.
How did Bailey make her millions?
Her debut assignment was for the cover of Essence magazine, which made waves by going on to become one of the highest-selling covers in the magazine’s annals. Incidentally, it was also a personal favourite of Susan Taylor, the editor-in-chief at the time. Soon enough, Bailey again found herself on Essence’s cover.
Beckoned by Europe’s Fashion Week, she then moved to Paris and Milan. After a year, Bailey returned to New York where she landed prestigious campaigns for Maybelline and Oil of Olay followed by magazine editorials of Elle, Vogue, Vanity Fair and Glamour.
She has also modelled for Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Macys, Saks Fifth Avenue, Chicos, Mercedes Benz, Talbots, Levi’s and Bregdorf Goodman.
Turning to acting, Bailey’s was chosen over supermodel Naomi Campbell to co-star with comedienne/singer Sandra Bernhard in her movie Without You I’m Nothing. Since then, Bailey’s friend and film director Brett Ratner picked her for his music videos and early movies. She also appeared in two episodes of The Cosby Show. Other appearances for TV include Soul Train, NY Undercover, and hosting shows on Black Entertainment Television.
Bailey’s acting career came into prominence when she was cast along with Phaedra Parks for Season Three of the reality series The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHoA), in October 2010. She went on to be a main cast member till Season Eight. Her salary between 2013 and 2014 for her role was estimated to be £100,000.
Soon after joining RHoA, the model/actress consolidated her experience by establishing The Bailey Agency School of Fashion in Atlanta and now owns an accessories empire that includes sunglasses and handbags.
In 2016, she partnered a couple of her co-stars from RHoA on other shows such as The Next :15 (with Claudia Jordan) and a celebrity edition of Cupcake Wars (with NeNe Leakes).
