Anne Wintour is estimated to be worth £24 million.
Wintour’s marriage with fashion journalism began in 1970 as an editorial assistant at Harper’s & Queen. She joined Harper’s Bazaar as junior fashion editor in 1975.
In 1981, as fashion editor for New York, her innovative spreads began to be noticed. Wintour was later persuaded in 1983 by Condé Nast’s editorial director Alex Liberman into accepting the creative director position at Vogue .
Her first editorship was earned by succeeding Beatrix Miller at British Vogue in 1985. After ten months, she won Vogue’s editorship.
Wintour oversaw the two largest issues of Vogue — September 2004 (832 pages) surpassed by September 2007 (840 pages) — and three offshoots: Vogue Living, Teen Vogue and Men’s Vogue.
She was awarded the OBE in 2008 and in September 2009 a documentary, The September Issue, regarding Vogue’s September 2007 issue, was released.
In 2010, Wintour made it to The American Society of Magazine Editors’ Hall of Fame.
She was made artistic director for Condé Nast’s magazines in 2013. In 2014, the Metropolitan Museum of Art named its Costume Institute complex after Wintour.
