Kylian Mbappe Net Worth

By Suren Prasad

Born on December 20, 1998 in the commune of Bondy, Paris, France, to Algerian-born former handball player Fayza Lamari and Cameroon-born football coach Wilfried Mbappé, Kylian Sanmi Mbappé Lottin began to show footballing promise by the age of six.

Coached by his dad, Kylian Mbappé started playing for AS Bondy, slowly moving on to the élite Clairefontaine Academy by age 12 and began playing for Monaco at 14.

Making his Monaco first-team debut in December 2015, Mbappé became the club’s youngest-ever first team player (16 years 347 days)—breaking Thierry Henry’s 21-year-old record. He broke another of Henry’s records when he became Monaco’s youngest first-team goalscorer. Signing his first professional contract with Monaco in March 2016, Mbappé became the second youngest French scorer at the UEFA Champions League (after Karim Benzema) when he scored against Manchester City in their Round of 16 first leg match. In July 2016, he won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship with France beating Italy in the final.

Season 2016-17 with Monaco saw Mbappé score 26 goals out of an overall 44 matches, doing full justice to the £16,000-a-week salary that he was earning at the club.

Lent to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in August 2017, the subsequent full transfer that came about was said to be in the region of £160 million, making him the costliest teenage footballer and the second costliest player behind PSG clubmate Neymar.

With Monaco he won the Ligue 1 in 2016-17 and with PSG he went on to clinch the Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue, in 2017-18.

Mbappé’s individual accolades include: the UEFA European Under-19 Championship Team of the Tournament (2016), UNFP Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year (2016-17 and 2017-18), UNFP Ligue 1 Team of the Year (2016-17 and 2017-18), UNFP Player of the Month (April 2017 and March 2018), UEFA Champions League Team of the Season (2016-17), Golden Boy (2017) and FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award (2018).

Sponsored by Nike, Mbappé’s current salary at PSG is £15.5 million per annum. He has also earned £40 million in bonuses.

Mbappe who owns five luxury cars, which include a £428,000 Ferrari and an Audi, scored four goals at FIFA 2018 in Russia including one in the final win against Croatia. He is only the second teenager to score in a World Cup final after a 17-year-old called Pelé scored against Sweden in 1958.

Arguably the fastest footballer, he has been clocked at 44.7 kmph while scoring against Argentina. Sports Illustrated reports that Mbappé’s wages per World Cup match could be about £17,000, as his earnings up to the quarter-finals were estimated at £67,860. The French footballer declared that he would be donating all of it plus an additional £16,940 to charity.

Ethan, his younger brother, plays for PSG’s Under-12 side, while Jirès Kembo, his adopted older brother, plays for Turkey.
