Top Recommended Tax Accountants
It’s been a year of change at EY. The retirement of heavyweight David Kilshaw – not to mention the departure of private client head Katherine Bullock to Field Court Chambers – has seen two top advisers disappearing from this index.
However, this has paved the way for the talented Tom Evennett, who recently joined EY from Deloitte, to come to the fore.Evennett is no stranger to Spear’s: he was named Accountant of the Year at our Young Turk Awards in 2014.
‘[I arrived] to further develop the firm’s brand and continue to grow the team in the private client marketplace,’ Evennett explains. He’s now responsible for advising a wide range of HNWs, from entrepreneurs to private equity executives and families, on their private offices and wealth structures across ‘the rapidly and ever changing’ business, economic, political and tax law landscapes, both in the UK as well as globally.
Evennett applauds the recent OECD/G20 BEPS Project, which aims to tackle global tax avoidance worldwide, which he views as an attempt ‘to move the tax code onto a global footing and into the 21st century’. There’s still a need for more simplification, however. ‘The tax code in the UK still remains very complex for individuals and their wealth structures. I am very supportive of simplifying the tax system wherever possible,’ Evennett says.
