Earlier, in July 2008, making his first team appearance for the friendlies before Arsenal’s 2008-09 season, he became the club’s youngest league debutant.
He scored his first competitive goal for Arsenal, in the Football League Cup against Sheffield United, in September 2008. Playing for the first time in the UEFA Champion’s League against Dynamo Kyiv in the same year, Wilshere became the fifth 16-year-old ever to play in this tournament.
January 2009 saw Wilshere sign his first professional deal, which later got extended in July 2009.
In 2010, he signed a deal with Arsenal for £50,000 per week, more than tripling his earlier wages of £15,000.

A fractured ankle sidelined him for the 2011-12 season as well as the 2012 Olympics and Euro 2012. He later replaced Robin Van Persie, claiming his number 10 jersey, after his switch to Manchester United.
Wilshere promised to stick with ‘The Gunners’ signing an £80,000-a-week five-year deal in 2013, amounting to over £20 million.
He scored the first brace of his career on November 26, 2013; the first of which was the fastest European goal of all time by a Brit, scored in 29 seconds, in the UEFA Champions League against Olympique de Marseille.
Wilshere also figured in Arsenal’s FA Cup 2013-14 win, as well as the FA Community Shield 2013-14. With 39 per cent of the votes, his goal against Norwich City in the 2013-14 season was named Goal of the Season.
