By the the 1997-98 season Lampard had secured a place at West Ham. He left in 2001, joining Chelsea for £11 million where his record of 164 consecutive Premier League appearances still stands.
He played a major role in helping the side win Premier League titles in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2009-10. He was also instrumental in the four FA Cup titles that Chelsea won in 2006-07, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2011-2012, along with the UEFA Champions League in 2011-12 and the Europa League in 2012-13.

On 31 December 2014, however, BBC Sport’s David Ornstein revealed Lampard was under contract to Manchester City and not New York City as previously claimed by both clubs.
