A part of their family’s brand of footwear, Run Athletics, it began with only four pairs of shoes, with both girls designing them as well. Phenomenal success saw Pastry selling over £10.5 million worth of shoes from ‘Cake’ (its first collection, resembling red velvet cake, strawberry shortcake, etc.), by the end of its debut year.
Simmons appeared in the MTV reality series Run’s House (2005-2009), featuring Rev Run and his family, and its offshoot Daddy’s Girls (2009).
Starting a mini-mag in autumn 2006 titled Angela’s Rundown with American magazine Word Up! (spotlighting American talent of African heritage), Simmons soon got her teen trends magazine onto newsstands in 2007. However, publication for both magazines were stopped after April 2012.
In October 2006, she featured in hip hop star Bow Wow’s music video “Shortie Like Mine”.
With the creation of Foofi and Bella, her own faux fur range, Simmons made her debut as a designer in late 2015.
Since January 2016, Simmons has been starring in the reality show Growing Up Hip Hop, along with Romeo Miller; a series for which she’s also an executive producer.
Her magazine appearances include Teen Vogue, People, Seventeen, US Weekly, Essence, Life & Style and Vibe, while other TV show appearances include The Wendy Williams Show, Fox Business and Good Day NY.
She has a reasonably huge social media fan base with 2.4 million followers on Instagram. Simmons also has her own official website/personal blog called AngelaIAM.com.
